Innocence surrounds her Hiding her essence Her blue eyes draw them in Captivating, inviting A promise of freedom and love. But behind closed doors her smile awaits: Equal to fangs tearing bone. Her blue eyes trapped them, tricked them To await the agony In the blood-ruined walls. Screams, like music Pleas, show pain She baths in their blood, And drinks from their tears They will never leave unscathed. How can violets be blue, and roses be red? How can people be living yet also be dead? How can dark shadows hide in a bright girl? How can there never be peace in the world? How can you take back something you said? How can you not relate to something you've read? How can you say, 'I am only a kid.'? How can you ever change what you did? You cannot take back something you said. People always seem living though inside they are dead. Shadows hide everywhere, even in a bright girl. Some day there has to be peace in the world.

The older boy was named Ignite, and he had planned everything before he left: he would find a river, build a house, and settle down. Torture

Sometimes I like to torture words with obscene acts to nouns and verbs. I tie them up in sentences and whip them till they make no sense. I love the screams of prepositions while pulling them in odd positions; and conjunctions make a lovely din when decapitated by my pen. I bind the wrists of adjectives just for the pleasure that it gives and adverbs leave me hot and bothered once their meaning is uncovered. Interjections beg for release with pronouns trembling on their knees. And once my fiendish work is done, you'll find that I have just begun my scheme to try and make you see it's not perverse - it's poetry.

Chapter 3: Doctor, Doctor I woke in sterile sheets and with a nice breeze on my lower half. I couldn't move and my chest hurt something awful. I heard a pristine voice announce that I was awake and suddenly had a sinking feeling that whoever said that was going to hurt me. I willed myself back into my cocoon of warmth, safety, and morphine.
